Perdue Chooses Lee as Senate Floor Leader

Atlanta - Governor-Elect Sonny Perdue today announced that Senator Dan Lee of LaGrange will serve as one of his floor leaders in the upcoming legislative session.

"Senator Lee has shown tremendous courage and leadership in recent weeks," said Perdue. "His willingness to put principles before partisanship is a great example of our goal of bringing a new approach to Georgia politics. I am honored to have a man of integrity like Dan on my team."

Lee will join Senator Bill Stephens of Canton in introducing all legislation brought forward by the Governor.


BIOGRAPHY OF SENATOR DAN LEE

Senator Daniel Lee was elected to the State Senate in 1998 to represent the 29th Senatorial District.

He currently serves as vice-chairman of the Public Safety Committee and secretary of the Judiciary Committee. He is also a member of the influential Appropriations, Interstate Cooperation, Natural Resources, and Reapportionment Committees.

Senator Lee plans to focus on legislation to improve the state's public education system, clean up the Chattahoochee River, and decrease juvenile delinquency.

Lee was born in Luthersville, Georgia. He graduated from LaGrange College in 1981. He earned his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama in 1985.

He is married to Susan Holliday, and they have one son, Daniel, Jr. They are members of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange.
