Governor Perdue Announces Johns Creek and Milton Appointments

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following appointments as interim representatives of the newly incorporated municipalities of Johns Creek and Milton in Fulton County.

Johns Creek Interim Government Committee
Robert “Bob” P. Bowling, 65, Johns Creek, GA – Bowling retired in 2002 as the Metro North Regional Manager for the Georgia Power Company. He is the past interim president/chief executive officer of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce. He received a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University. Bowling and his wife, Betty, have two grown children and four grandchildren.

Marie L. Garrett, 52, Alpharetta, GA – Garrett is the owner of Marie Garrett Consulting, Inc, which provides consulting assistance to the public and private sectors in planning, public administration, development and grants writing. She is a former city administrator of development for the city of Alpharetta. She received an associate’s degree from Middle Georgia Junior College, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree from Georgia State University College of Public and Urban Affairs. Garrett and her husband, Steve, have three children

Robert Horne, 68, Johns Creek, GA – Horne is the president of CCC Associations and a principal at Cedar Ventures. He serves on the board of the Southeast Council of the American Electronics Association and is a founding member of the Georgia Technology Leadership Coalition. He received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Cambridge University and a master’s degree from Harvard Business School. Horne and his wife, Ann, have three children and two grandchildren.

Chris Cupit, 37, Alpharetta, GA – Cupit is the owner and general manager of Cupit Enterprises and Rivermont Golf and Country Club. He serves as vice-president of the board of directors for the Georgia State Golf Association, member of the board of directors of the Atlanta Junior Golf Association and a member of the United States Golf Association’s Mid-Amateur Committee. Cupit received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. He is married to Jennifer Cupit.

D. Scott Wilson, 41, Elberton, GA – Wilson is the chief financial officer for Pinnacle Bank. He is a former city manager for the city of Elberton. He is a member of the Georgia Rural Development Council and vice-chairman of the District 5 Regional Advisory Council. Wilson is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Georgia and a graduate of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development. He is a member of the International City Management Association and the Georgia City-County Management Association. Wilson received an associate’s degree from Macon College, a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Gale, have two children.

Milton Interim Government Committee
Brandon Beach, 45, Alpharetta, GA – Beach is the president and chief executive officer of the Greater North Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and the North Fulton Community Improvement District. He is on the board of directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority. He is a former member of the Alpharetta City Council and the Alpharetta Planning and Zoning Commission. Beach received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree from Centenary College. He and his wife, Shuntel, have two children.

Gregory Mishkin, 35, Cumming, GA – Mishkin is the president of EdgeTek Technologies. He served as chairman of communications, volunteers and fundraising for the City of Milton Committee. He serves as president and treasurer of the Milton Organizing Committee, Inc. Mishkin received a bachelor’s degree from Union College and a master’s degree from the University of Hartford. He and his wife, Christine, have two children.

Daniel Phelan, 57, Milton, GA – Phelan is the chief executive officer of M R Default Services, LLC and a founding partner and managing member of McCalla, Raymer, Padrick, Cobb, Nichols & Clark, LLC He is the co-founder of Strands of Hope, a foundation to assist Hurricane Katrina victims and served on the board of directors for USFN and MARR, Inc. Phelan received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from the University of Detroit. He and his wife, Patricia, have two children.

Cecil Pruett, 65, Canton, GA – Pruett is the mayor of the city of Canton. He serves on the board of directors and is the immediate past president of the Georgia Municipal Association. He is a member of the business and industry committee for the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority. He received a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University. Pruett and his wife, Myrna, have two children and seven grandchildren.

Ron Wallace, 61, Milton, GA - Wallace is the retired president of UPS International, a position in which he served on thirty-four boards of UPS global subsidiaries. He is a certified police officer, and works as a reserve Alpharetta police officer. He was awarded Alpharetta’s Citizen of the Year award in 2005. Wallace attended Lewis and Clark College. He and his wife, Mary, have one child and two grandchildren.
