Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Board of Community Health

Jeffrey Jay Anderson, 48, Cumming, GA, At Large- Anderson is a partner and Vice President of Public Sector Sales Operations for Cap Gemini Ernst and Young.  He is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the National Association of Corporate Directors, and Founder and Chairman of Northern Arc Task Force, Inc.  Anderson is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA).  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, a master's degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and is a Commandant Graduate of the Command and General Staff Officers Course, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.  Anderson and his wife, Sylvia, have four children.

Christopher Byron Stroud, 40, Albany , GA , At Large- Stroud is a physician and managing partner of Women's Health Professionals, LLC, and founder and President of Southern Technology Solutions, Inc.  He is also a Human Resource Management and Health Benefits Consultant with The Chaffee Group.  Stroud is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (1997), a member of the American Medical Association, and a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.  He received the Outstanding Clinical Service Award from Florida State University and the University of Florida College of Medicine.  Stroud received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University, a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and an MBA from Auburn University.  He and his wife, Marianne, have three children.

 

Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training council

Charles Frank Simons, 54, Valdosta , GA , Chief of Police Representative - Simons is the Chief of Police for the City of Valdosta.  He previously served as the Chief of Police for the City of Perry.  Simons also held positions at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College as Director of the ABAC Regional Police Academy and as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice.  Simons was recognized as Police Officer of the Year by the Exchange Club of Valdosta and he received the Pacesetter Award for Excellence.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southwestern College and his graduate degree from Troy State University.  Simons is married to Mary Kathleen. 

Michael Steven Yeager, 48, Moreland, GA, Peace Officer Representative- Yeager is the Sheriff of Coweta County.  He is the former President of the Georgia Sheriff's Association, a member of the National Sheriff's Association, and a member of the Peace Officer's Association of Georgia.  Yeager is involved in the Newnan Kiwanis Club and the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce.  He attended West Georgia College and is a graduate of the Clayton County Regional Police Academy.  Yeager is a post certified law enforcement officer with training through the Georgia Police Academy and regional police academies throughout the state.  He and his wife, Beverly, have two children. 

Georgia Board of Landscape Architects

Michael Wayne Breedlove, 48, Conyers, GA, Landscape Architect Representative (REAPPOINTMENT)- Breedlove is Principal of Breedlove Land Planning, Inc.  He is a registered Landscape Architect and a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Breedlove is also a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control and Supervisor of the Rockdale County Soil and Water Conservation District.  The Georgia Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society recognized him with the 2002 Honor Award.  He received his undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia.  Breedlove and his wife, Catherine, have two children.

Paul James Brickey, Jr., 56, Marietta, GA , Landscape Architect Representative - Brickey is a registered Landscape Architect and Principal and Director of Landscape Architecture at Tunnell Spangler Walsh.  He has won awards for projects such as the Historic Gainesville Square Streetscape Redevelopment, the Winder Downtown Master Plan, the Collins Hill Aquatic Center, and the Piedmont Park Oak Hill Historic Restoration.  Brickey received his undergraduate and master's degrees in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia.  He is married to Bonnie Bass Brickey. 

Rebecca Reagan Kirk, 45, Atlanta, GA, Landscape Architect Representative - Kirk is Vice President and Department Head of the Civil/Landscape Department for Southern Engineering, Inc.  She is a registered Landscape Architect and member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.  She has served on the Fulton County Development Advisory Committee and the American Institute of Architects Atlanta Urban Design Committee.  Kirk received the Georgia Chapter Service Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects in 2002.  She earned her undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in Landscape Architecture.  Kirk and her husband, Robert, have two children.

 

Georgia Tobacco Community Development Board

Dolphus "Lamar" DeLoach, 52, Metter, GA, Grower Representative (REAPPOINTMENT)- DeLoach is a partner in DeFair Farms and President and partner in Ag South, Inc.  He is a member of the Western Agricultural Chemical Association, the Georgia Agricultural Association, and the Mid-West Ag Chemical Association.  DeLoach previously served as a Bulloch County Commissioner.  He received his undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern College and served in the Georgia National Guard.  DeLoach and his wife, Amy, have two children. 

Roy Herrington, 69, Baxley, GA, Citizen Representative - Herrington is owner of Thompson's Farm Supply, Inc.  He is the Director and past President of the Appling County Chamber of Commerce and past Director of the Appling County Industrial Development Authority.  Herrington is also Director of the Georgia Agribusiness Council and previously served as the Director of the National Livestock and Meat Board.  He received his undergraduate degree from Marsh Business College.  Herrington and his wife, Georgia, have three children.

 

Georgia Agricultural Exposition Authority

Tommy Eugene Waldrop, 67, Winston, GA, At Large (REAPPOINTMENT)- Waldrop serves on the Board of Directors for the Douglas County Farm Bureau.   He served as Sheriff of Douglas County, and is a life-long farmer and member of the Douglas and Carroll County 4-H programs.  Waldrop is past President of the Georgia Guernsey Cattle Club, past Chairman of the Douglas County Agricultural Stabilization Committee, a retired Sergeant First Class of the Georgia State Patrol, and past Director of the Carroll County Cattlemen's Association.   Waldrop is a member of the Georgia National State Trooper's Association and the Georgia National Sheriff's Association.  He attended the University of Georgia and is a graduate of the Georgia State Patrol Trooper School.  Waldrop and his wife, Elaine, have five children.
