ATLANTA , GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that LG Chem Industrial Materials (LGCIM) will construct a 150,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Gordon County , south of Calhoun.  LGCIM is a unit of one of the world's largest companies, the LG Group of Korea .  The new facility represents a $40 million investment and will create as many as 70 new jobs initially, with the potential for significant growth within five years.

" Georgia is an attractive location for international investment and this new facility further strengthens our reputation as a world-class business environment," said Governor Sonny Perdue, who led negotiations with the company during a business mission to Korea last fall.  "This is a great win for Gordon County and the surrounding community."

To help the company continue to grow in Gordon County , GDEcD has recommended that the OneGeorgia Authority provide the community a OneGeorgia grant to assist with the development of the project.

"I have to thank Gordon County for making this project a success," said Craig Lesser, GDEcD commissioner.  "This partnership has been invaluable in working with LG Chem and building prosperity for the state."
