Atlanta - Governor Sonny Perdue today released $156,000 in state funds appropriated for the purchase of $1.8 million in 20-year bonds to be used for renovations at Columbus Technical College (CTC). Funding for the renovations also includes a substantial amount of matching funds ($500,000) from a private donor. Governor Perdue made the announcement while speaking to the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. The state funds were part of the 2003 supplemental bond package.

"The Columbus Technical College has experienced significant growth over the last four years and these renovations will allow the school to meet the needs of its expanding student body," said Governor Sonny Perdue.

The funds were released at the request of State Senator Seth Harp and State Representative Tom Buck along with the rest of the City of Columbus and Muscogee County legislative delegation. CTC has experienced unprecedented growth in the last 4 years with enrolment up 156% (1500 students to 4000 students). CTC acquired several buildings which require renovations to provide for functional classroom space for the school's health sciences and information technology programs.
