Governor Perdue Appoints Rebecca Sullivan as Executive Counsel

Jud Turner to serve as Deputy Executive Counsel
ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Rebecca Sullivan as executive counsel – chief legal advisor to the Governor. Sullivan previously served as the Governor’s deputy executive counsel.
“During the past two years, Rebecca has demonstrated that my administration can rely on her advice and counsel,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “Her sound legal mind and discerning judgment will serve her very well in this new role.”
Governor Perdue also announced the appointment of Judson H. “Jud” Turner as deputy executive counsel. Turner has served as general counsel for the Georgia Department of Education (DOE) since January 2003.
“With his experience in state government and the private sector, Jud is an excellent addition to this administration. He will be a valuable asset to the counsel team,” said Governor Sonny Perdue.
Sullivan, 30, of Lilburn, Georgia first joined the Governor’s Office as a policy advisor for public safety and general government issues. She was appointed deputy executive counsel in November 2004. Prior to joining the Perdue administration, Sullivan was an associate with Elarbee, Thompson, Sapp & Wilson LLP, where she practiced labor and employment law, representing public and private employers nationwide. Sullivan is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. She received her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia.
Turner, 30, of Griffin, Georgia was an associate attorney at Bradley, Arant, Rose & White LLP in Birmingham, Alabama where he practiced general commercial litigation before working for DOE. He is a board member of the Griffin-Spalding County Educational Foundation and a staff member of the American Legion Boys’ State Program. Turner received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of Georgia.
