Governor Sonny Perdue Authorizes Reward for Information Regarding the Murder of Anita Redmon

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue today signed an Executive Order offering a $5,000.00 reward for information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction of any person or persons responsible for the murder of Stone Mountain Park employee Anita Redmon. Redman was murdered Saturday morning while she worked at the west gate of Stone Mountain Park.

In addition to the state reward announced today, the Silver Dollar City Corporation has offered a $10,000.00 reward and the Stone Mountain Park Memorial Association has offered another $10,000.00, totaling a $25,000.00 reward. Redman was employed by Silver Dollar City Corporation, a private entity that provides vendor services to Stone Mountain Park.

The following is text of the Executive Order:

WHEREAS: On Saturday July 16, 2005 at 12:30 a.m., Stone Mountain Park attendant was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at the West Gate entrance to the park;

WHEREAS: Stone Mountain Park Department of Public Safety has been unable to generate any solid information leading to the identification or apprehension of a suspect;

WHEREAS: Section 45-12-35 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotation provides that the Governor of the State of Georgia is authorized, in his discretion, to offer, and cause to be paid a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons who have committed a felony in the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:

That a reward in the amount of $5,000.00 is hereby offered for information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction of the individual/s responsible for the murder of Anita Redmon.
