Statement of Governor Perdue Regarding the Passing of Second Baptist Church, Warner Robins Reverend I. F. "Rastus" Salter

ATLANTA, GA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement regarding the passing of Reverend I. F. "Rastus" Salter:

"Mary and I would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of Reverend Rastus Salter. The impact of his life and ministry on our family can never be measured. His example of a godly walk and unwavering faith will be with us always. We consider ourselves blessed to have sat under his leadership for many years. While his passing leaves us saddened, we rejoice that he is in the presence of the God he loved and served. Our love and prayers are with ‘Mrs. Lena’ and the family now and in the days to come."

Rev. I. F. "Rastus" Salter was born in Upson County, Georgia. After graduation from Zebulon High School in Zebulon, Georgia, he entered the United States Army during World War II. He graduated from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in 1951, and then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
