Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments

ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments:

Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia

Kessel D. Stelling, Jr., 51, Marietta, Sixth Congressional District Representative —

Stelling is the president and chief executive officer of the Bank of North Georgia.  He serves as chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, as a trustee of Kennesaw State University and on the board of overseers of the University of Georgia Terry College of Business.  He is a board member of the Cobb Community Foundation, Wellstar Health Systems and a member of the Development Authority of Cobb County.  Stelling earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and a graduate degree from Louisiana State University.  He and his wife, Carol, have two children.

Board of Community Health

Archer R. Rose, 64, Conyers— Rose is a consultant with Rose Healthcare Consulting.  He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a senior active member of the Conyers Rotary Club.  He is a past chairman of the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Hospital Association.  He is a former board member of the Georgia State Board of Nursing Home Administrators and the Georgia Hospital Insurance Agency, Inc.  Rose earned a bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon College and a master’s degree in hospital administration from the Medical College of Virginia.  He and his wife, Marsha, have two children.

Board of Directors of the Georgia Lottery Corporation

John K. Watson, 39, Powder Springs — Watson is the principal of real estate development at TPA Realty Services.  Prior to his role at TPA Realty, he worked for more than 15 years in politics, government and business at the local, state, and federal levels.  Watson previously served as chief of staff to Governor Perdue, general consultant to Perdue's campaign for Governor in 2002 and vice-chairman of Governor-Elect Perdue's transition team.  He serves on the board of directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.  Watson earned a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University.  He and his wife, Kimberly, have two children.

Board of Commissioners of the Georgia Student Finance Commission

Molly Dye Franklin, 49, Atlanta, Fifth Congressional District Representative —

Franklin is the president of Molly Dye & Associates, LLC.  She formerly served as vice president of corporate relations for AGCO Corporation and as the chief of staff and administrative director for the late United States Senator Paul Coverdell.  She is the co-chairman of the Coverdell Leadership Institute.  Franklin earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.  She is married to George Franklin. 

State Workforce Investment Board

Anna R. Cablik, 55, Marietta, Business Representative — Cablik is president of ANATEK, Inc., and president and chief executive officer of ANASTEEL & Supply Company, LLC.  She is a partner of PanAmerican Logistics, LLC and serves on the board of directors for Georgia Power Company.  She is a member of both the Corporate Board of Branch Banking and Trust and the Board of the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta Cablik previously served on the Board of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  Cablik earned a degree from the Canal Zone College in Panama.  She and her husband, Jerry, have three children.

Diethard “D” Lindner, 63, LaGrange, Business Representative — Lindner is the chairman of the Development Authority of LaGrange.  He spent 35 years with Hughes Aircraft Company and later retired as president and general manager of Raytheon Systems Georgia.  Lindner is active with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as council president of the Chattahoochee Council Executive Board.  He has been honored as the 2006 Rotarian of the Year.  He serves on the board of trustees of LaGrange Academy.  Lindner earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California.  He has two grown children.

Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities

Tom M. Seegmueller, 52, Dawson, Parent Representative (Reappointment) — Seegmueller is an immunization project consultant for the Georgia Immunization Program in the Department of Human Resources.  He previously served as the chair of Dougherty For Children, Dougherty County Special Needs Parent Teacher Organization and the Chehaw Park Authority.  He has two children.

Criminal Justice Coordinating Council

Christopher S. Brasher, 42, Alpharetta, Superior Court Judge Representative —

Brasher is a Judge for the Superior Court of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit.  He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and serves on the Bench and Bar Committee.  He previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit and at the Georgia Attorney General’s Office.  Brasher earned a bachelor’s degree from Furman University and a law degree from Georgia State University College of Law.  He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children.

Board of Commissioners of the Superior Court Clerk’s Retirement Fund

L. Carolyn Williams, 61, Concord, Superior Court Clerk Representative — Williams is the Clerk of the Superior/Juvenile Court of Pike County.  She previously served as the Deputy Clerk for Pike County Superior Court.  She is a member of the Superior Court Clerks Association of Georgia and the Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia.  She serves on the Pike County Arts Council and is a member of both the Pike County Kiwanis Club and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.  She and her husband, John, have four grown children and nine grandchildren.
