What can an individual do?

Help a parent in need. Call 1-800-CHILDREN to assist that parent or family. If you know a family is under stress, offer to help. Even little things make a difference.

Volunteer with Prevent Child Abuse Georgia and its chartered councils across the state, work on the Helpline, support new parents through the First Steps Program, help raise funds, and become an advocate for children.

Volunteer with organizations such as Big Brother/Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Cool Girls, Families First, and the Girl Scout Outreach Development Program.

Volunteer with Grady Health Systems. Help with the First Steps Program, which provides support to new mothers, or at Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital.

What can a corporation and/or organization do?

Create a family friendly work environment to lower stress on parents.

Adopt volunteer friendly policies and encourage your workforce to give time to prevention in the community.

Contribute financially or donate in-kind gifts to organizations who work with at-risk children. Sponsor one-time events held by these organizations.
